Forsbrook School Council
What is a School Council?
A school council is a group of elected students that work with pupils and staff to further develop our school and highlight any areas for discussion.
The members act as a voice for their classes and attend regular meetings where we discuss a variety of suggested projects and ways in which we can support the development of our school, including fundraising for both charities and in house projects.
How we elect our members?
Each year we carry out a democratic vote to elect two members for each class. These two children will represent their class for the academic year and will feed back suggestions from their year group at each school council meeting.
Who are our School Councillors? 2019-2020
Year 1: Martha and Joe
Year 2SS: Elsie and Harry
Year 2BC: Elise and William
Year 3: Isabella and Colby
Year 4: Ari and Florrie
Year 5: Layla and Ben
Year 6: Dempsey and Ethan
The school council have been involved in many projects to raise money including:
Comic Relief: our children set up a variety of fun ‘Red Nose’ themed activities that each class accessed throughout the day making a small donation. All money raised was donated to this charity. We all had a fantastic day raising money for a great cause.
Christmas card competition - our school council members ran a Christmas card competition and decided upon a winning design that we then printed and sold within school for a small cost. All money raised was donated to The Donna Louise Hospice. Well done to all our entries and thank you to all who purchased the winning design. We raised a fantastic amount of money, again for a great cause.
Children in Need - the School Council suggested and co-ordinated a whole school event to raise funds for Children in Need. Each class learnt the signs and lyrics to the official Children in Need song. We then performed this as a school and uploaded this to our school Facebook page to raise awareness.
In-house fundraiser at the summer fayre - the School Council members set up and facilitated a number of games and activities at our summer fayre to help to raise additional funds for our school. Thank you to all who supported this event. It was a fantastic day filled with lots of fun.
Our current project is an eco-display to raise awareness of plastic pollution and the devastating effect this is having in our seas. We are collecting bottle tops and lids and will create a display similar to the one pictured to encourage people to recycle. It is the responsibility of our members to encourage others to collect and they will create a new display that will be located in our eco corridor.
